Annual Talent Program Upgraded to “AI for Good,” Promoting Youth Technology for Social Good Across All Education Stages

Since its launch, Tencent WeTech Academy has built a comprehensive talent development system that integrates Tencent’s technological ecosystem resources and benefits nearly 50,000 young people in Hong Kong and Macao across all educational stages. The newly announced 2026 Talent Development Program enhances resource investment in three key areas: public service practice, global competitions, and talent development, promoting the use of technology for social good.

  • AI for Good, Empowering Communities: The upgraded “AI for Good” initiative collaborates with social service organizations, including the Hong Kong Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, Po Leung Kuk and the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council. This program will engage primary and secondary students in community-based field studies and introduce the “Light Innovation Camp” AI competition for university students, featuring a new theme on “Chronic Disease Management for the Elderly” to encourage youth to tackle social challenges with AI.
  • Global Competitions, Connecting the World: The “Weixin Mini Program Global Innovation Challenge 2026” was launched on the same day, introducing a new Hong Kong and Macao Track that highlights the potential of regional youth talent in AI applications.
  • Full-Cycle Support for Talent Development: Tencent WeTech Academy will offer a wide range of activities to enhance learning and professional readiness. Activities for primary schools will include the 2026 Online Challenge and the Greater Bay Area Cultural Exchange Camp, both of which will use gamified interactions to promote cultural exchange. CityU will serve as the pilot site for the WeTech Club and Campus Ambassador Program, fostering industry-academia collaborations through Tencent Cloud training and on-campus activities. Additionally, Tencent will launch the “Tencent Internship Programme for youth talents in Greater Bay Area and beyond” and the “Tencent GBA Scheme,” offering multiple international job opportunities in technical, product, and design fields.

They gained a practical understanding of AI fundamentals and classroom applications, and experienced how AI can enhance teaching and learning.
